Lighting Characteristics:
Beam Lights: The light source is typically a high-brightness gas discharge lamp (such as an HMI lamp) or LED. The light is highly concentrated, creating a strong beam effect and forming a clear beam. The beam angle is very narrow, usually between 3° and 15°, allowing for long-distance illumination and focusing.
Par Lights: Use halogen lamps, LED lamps, or gas discharge lamps as the light source. The light is soft and uniform, with a larger spot size and a wider beam angle. Common beam angles include narrow (e.g., 10°), medium (e.g., 25°), and wide (e.g., 45°).
Functions and Applications:
Beam Lights: Primarily used to create strong beam effects, highlighting specific areas or figures on stage. They often feature rapid movement, strobe, and rotation capabilities, making them suitable for concerts, electronic music parties, and other occasions requiring a strong visual impact, as well as opening shows or climaxes of large events.
Par lights: Used for color washing, wall washing, or large-area lighting. Color changes can be achieved by changing color filters or using RGB LEDs, creating a soft stage atmosphere or serving as background light. Suitable for stage background color washing, theater lighting, wedding sets, and outdoor architectural or landscape lighting.
Appearance and Structure:
Beam lights: Longer and larger in size, usually equipped with complex lens groups and motor systems. The lamp head can rotate and move, allowing for flexible beam control.
Par lights: Mostly cylindrical in appearance, with a shorter lamp body and a relatively simple structure. The lamp head often has a lens or reflector bowl for controlling the beam angle.
Price and Maintenance:
Beam lights: Due to their complex structure, they are more expensive and have higher maintenance costs, especially traditional gas discharge lamp beam lights, which have short bulb lifespans and require regular replacement.
Par lights: Relatively cheaper, especially LED PAR lights, which not only have a long lifespan and low energy consumption but are also easy to maintain.
